Announcing news: Skopje hosts the Ministerial Meeting of the South-eastern Europe Health Network

Today, Skopje will host the Ministerial Meeting of the South-eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) which will be attended by representatives of all 10 SEEHN member countries. The conference will be officially opened by Mr. Nikola Todorov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Macedonia, and Mrs. Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe. The Meeting will discuss several current issues related to the upcoming SEEHN activities including the implementation of the WHO Health 2020 Strategy, the mobility of health workforce and the regional crisis preparedness and response capacity.

The discussion during today’s Ministerial meeting of the SEE Health Network revolved around three main aspects – the implementation of the WHO Health 2020 Strategy, the introduction of a special group as an efficient crisis coordination mechanism for SEEHN member countries and the health workforce mobility and education. Given the level of cooperation among the SEEHN member countries, the WHO Regional Director for Europe, Zsuzsanna Jakab, believes that SEE Health Network might as well become an independent international entity very soon.
