Geneva, May 2026
The South-Eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) is participating in the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) in Geneva, with the Network represented by its Member States and the intervention delivered by the State of Israel, current holder of the SEEHN Presidency.
Convened by the World Health Organization, WHA79 brings together ministers of health, policymakers and global stakeholders to discuss key priorities shaping the future of health systems worldwide. The Assembly agenda includes WHO reform and financing, pandemic preparedness and response, universal health coverage, digital health and artificial intelligence, antimicrobial resistance, health workforce sustainability, mental health, noncommunicable diseases and primary health care.
On behalf of the nine SEEHN Member States — Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Israel, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia — the Israeli Presidency reaffirmed SEEHN’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, resilient health systems, digital transformation, workforce development and preparedness capacities through joint action and knowledge exchange. The intervention highlighted recent initiatives implemented under the Israeli Presidency, including the regional workshop “Healthy Ageing in SEEHN Member States and Beyond”, organized in Montenegro in partnership with WHO/Europe, and the workshop “Strengthening Health Workforce Capacity through Trauma-Informed Care as a System Competency”, held in Bucharest, Romania, in April 2026.
Through these efforts, SEEHN continues to promote people-centred, innovative and forward-looking health systems across South-Eastern Europe, reinforcing the value of regional cooperation in addressing shared health challenges.
