The TAIEX workshop on Increasing Blood Availability and Providing the Highest Donor and Patient Safety in Transfusion Therapy in Emergency Special Circumstances, will take place in Bucharest from July 7-9, 2014, as follow-up to the two workshops: “Increasing Transnational Availability of Safe Blood and Blood Components for Medical Emergencies and Special Circumstances”, held in Oradea, Romania in June 2011, and “Clinical Risk Management and Management of Adverse Events”, held in Belgrade, Serbia, in December 2013.

The cooperation between the SEEHN and the EC TAIEX Instrument took new positive dimensions in 2014. Based on a well prepared analysis of the situation in 2012-2013, the needs and challenges of the SEEHN regional priorities and the concepts, types of support and procedures of the EC TAIEX, the SEEHN called the Directors of the RHDC to put forward their proposals for multicountry regional events in 2014 for consideration and approval by the SEEHN Ex Com and for corporate application to EC TAIEX.

Macedonia – Vaccines Donation Story
Towards the end of 2008, larger number of youngsters age 15 to 19 have reported to a doctor with swollen glands on the neck. The numbers further escalated in January of 2009, requiring announcement of epidemic outbreak of mumps in 10 larger cities in Macedonia. Especially vulnerable were teenagers, and the Ministry of Health did not have sufficient supplies of vaccines for extraordinary immunization of particular population groups…
